Bihar tops list of VIPs getting police protection





Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar tops the list of states with maximum numbers VIPs.A total of 3,200 VIPs have been given protection by 6,248 policemen. 

West Bengal follows with 2,207 VIPs under the protection of 4,233 policemen, while, originally, only 501 were originally sanctioned for this purpose.

According to the data, Jammu and Kashmir has deployed 4,499 policemen for the protection of 2,075 VIPs.

In the most populated state, Uttar Pradesh, there are 1,852 VIPs protected by 4,681 policemen at the service.  

Lakshadweep is the only Union Territory/state where no one has been given any kind of police protection.  

The home to dignitaries, Delhi has only 489 protected persons and has the maximum number of cops––a total of 7,420––deputed to secure them.

According to Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) out of 19.26 lakh policemen, 56,944 are deployed at the duty of 20,828 VIPs across the country. This amounts to an average of 2.73 cops for every VIP. 

With one police personnel looking after 663 citizens India still remains one of the least policed countries in the world for common man.
