Patna, Jul 20 Patna today registered a maximum temperature of 41.6 degree Celsius, the highest maximum temperature in the month of July in last 36-years.

The Met office said the maximum temperature of Patna today was 41.6 degree Celsius, which was nine degrees above normal.

The state capital had earlier registered 41.2 degree Celsius as maximum temperature on July 6, 1982, as per India Meteorological Department's record available on its official website.

A Patna Meteorological Centre official said that the maximum temperature has witnessed surge in July because of absence of rainfall and subsequent long dry weather conditions.

The Patna Meteorological Centre has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnea tomorrow.
