Enforcement Directorate seizes Rs 44.75 crore worth of land of Lalu family

.Patna: The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday seized 11 plots of land in Patna worth 44.75 crore rupees, attached by the agency in the name of a firm linked to RJD chief Lalu Prasad's family, as part of the IRCTC hotel money laundering case.
The central probe agency was allowed to take possession of the seized assets by a designated PMLA authority recently.

In July last year, the agency registered a case against Lalu Prasad, his family members and others under the provisions of the PMLA

The matter first came into light last year in May when senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushil Modi accused the RJD supremo and family of corruption and benami property.

The BJP alleged that a mall was being built on benami property acquired by Lalu and his family without getting clearance from the government.

Lalu’s son and RJD leaders Tej Pratap and Tejashwi Yadav, who were then ministers in the State Cabinet allegedly misused their positions for the construction of the mall and holding undeclared property.
