Monsoon is expected to hit Bihar in two to five days





Patna, Jun 17: People of Bihar may get respite from the sweltering heat that has singed almost the entire state soon, as the southwest monsoon is expected to reach Bihar within two to five days, the met office said today.

The southwest monsoon which normally enters eastern Bihar by June 10 has been delayed by 7-10 days.

Cities such as Gaya recorded the highest maximum temperature at 43.3 degrees Celsius followed by Patna at 42.0 degrees Celsius, Bhagalpur 38.6 degrees Celsius and 33.7 degrees Celsius in Purnea, the met bulletin said.

The weathermen has also made a forecast for pre- monsoon rains for Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnea tomorrow.

It has forecast that it will be partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunder or lightning accompanied by squall or hail tomorrow in Patna, the bulletin said.

Whereas Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnea may witness partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunder or lightning tomorrow, it said.

Met bulletin said that light to moderate rainfall occurred at few places over north east parts of Bihar while light rainfall occurred at one or two places in north west and central parts of the state since yesterday.
