New Delhi, Dec 6 (IANS) Disturbed by the constant illegalities in the functioning of the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), its President Jagnnath Singh -— also an advocate -- mentioned the matter in the court of the Chief Justice of India, S.A. Bobde, and requested an early hearing in the matter to look into the wrongdoings in the association which have affected the game of cricket.
The CJI has directed that the matter be put up before the appropriate bench on December 10.
Speaking to IANS, a BCA official said that the President highlighted the constant illegal activities of the office-bearers of the association and requested the CJI to intervene and look into the issues.
"Jagnnath Singh appeared before the CJI and highlighted the illegalities committed by the present office-bearers of the BCA, including the illegalities in selection of players in different age groups as also in the Ranji team.
"It was also highlighted that the son of Secretary Shivam Kumar is being selected in all formats of Bihar cricket team without performance in violation to the rules of Conflict of Interest. The CJI, after hearing Jagnnath Singh, fixed the case for hearing on December 10," he said.
Earlier, Jagnnath had written to BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, apprising him of the supposed illegal activities taking place in Bihar cricket at present under the alleged protection and umbrella of BCCI GM Cricket Operations Saba Karim.
In the mail, accessed by IANS, Jagnnath had claimed that Karim was protecting the interest of the faction in BCA led by Rabi Shankar Prasad Singh. He had also pointed at the various mails he sent to the Committee of Administrators (CoA) to highlight the illegal running of the BCA.
