Bihar CM, his cabinet colleagues declare their assets




Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar owns movable and immovable assets worth Rs 56.18 lakh while his son Nishant is almost five times richer than him.

According to details of assets declared by the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues uploaded on the state government's website on January 3, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi is also richer than his boss, with movable assets worth Rs 1.04 crore.

The declaration of assets is an annual practice for ministers and officials in the state since 2011.

Kumar has movable assets worth Rs 16.18 lakh in addition to a 1,000 sq ft flat in Delhi valued at Rs 40 lakh.

The value of Kumar's total assets has witnessed a minuscule decline of around Rs 4,000 as compared to the previous year, when it stood at Rs 56.23 lakh.

The chief minister, who is also the national president of JD(U), owns two cars - a 2015 model Ford Ecosport and a 2016 model Hyundai Grand I10 Asta.

Kumar also has eight cows and six calves.

His son Nishant, his only child, owns movable and immovable assets worth Rs 2.78 crore, which is almost five times more than what his father has.

Nishant's movable assets are valued at Rs 1.29 crore and his immovable assets are worth Rs 1.48 crore.

His assets include ancestral land - both agricultural and non-agricultural, and residential buildings at Kalyanbigha in Nalanda district and Hakikatpur in Patna district's Bakhtiyarpur.

Both Nitish and Nishant have no liabilities or any outstanding dues.

Apart from the chief minister, all the other 27 ministers, including Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, have furnished details of their movable and immovable properties.

Modi is richer than Kumar, with movable assets worth Rs 1.04 crore which includes Rs 55.28 lakh as bank deposits, a Maruti Swift car (2008 model) valued at Rs 4.38 lakh and gold jewellery worth Rs 3.36 lakh.

Modi's wife owns movable assets worth 1.51 crore.

The couple jointly owns a 1,825 sq ft flat in Gautam Budh Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh, the market value of which is Rs 34.71 lakh.

On the other hand, Modi's outstanding loans/dues has increased in 2018 to Rs 17.54 lakh from Rs 16.09 lakh in 2017.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Suresh Kumar Sharma, a BJP MLA, is the richest minister in Nitish Kumar's cabinet.

As per the declaration, Sharma along with his wife possess assets worth Rs 9.74 crore.

Sharma has moveable assets worth Rs 68.80 lakh while his wife has moveable assets worth Rs 31.71 lakh.

While the minister has immoveable assets worth Rs 4.42 crore, his wife has land and houses worth Rs 4.35 crore.

Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, another senior minister, who belongs to the chief minister's party, owns assets worth Rs 8 crore with Rs 5.07 lakh as cash in hand while his wife has movable assets worth Rs 21.42 lakh, including ornaments worth Rs 14.50 lakh, and immovable assets of Rs 48.78 lakh.

Singh has an outstanding housing loan of Rs 63.51 lakh.

Health Minister Mangal Pandey and his wife have shown Rs 1.09 crore and Rs 67.76 as movable assets. None of them possess any land or house.
