Patna, Jan 26 : Following the state-wide agitation by students, coaching institutes in Bihar are on the radar of Bihar police, an official said.
The protest in Bihar against the Railway Recruitment Board's (RRB) move to hold two exams intensified since Monday evening, with the aspirants blocking rail tracks in various parts of the state.
Sources said that FIRs have been registered against some coaching institutes which made statements after the students' agitation began on Monday evening.
The coaching institutes are offering online classes to a large number of students across the state. The administration believes that they provoked the students for the agitation.
"We are keeping an eye on the coaching institutes of the state which could be involved in provoking the students. We have booked some of the coaching institutes as well in the last two days," Chandrashekher Singh, District Magistrate of Patna, said.
"We are collecting video evidence to identify the students who were involved in the arson at different stations of Patna and other parts of Bihar. Following that, we will register FIRs against them. The possibility of anti-social elements mixing with the students to create trouble cannot be ruled out," he said.
On day two of agitation, thousands of students assembled at different railway stations of Bihar and blocked the movement of trains.
The agitating students pelted stones on police personnel at Sitamarhi railway station. The students also damaged the railway track in Nawada besides setting a railway maintenance engine on fire.
Reports of violence also came from Muzaffarpur, Fatuha (in Patna district), Arraah, Buxar and Nalanda.
The students have given an ultimatum to cancel the results in next two days otherwise they would start massive agitation from January 28.
The students are protesting against the fresh notification of Indian Railways wherein it has finalised two examinations.
"There was only one examination in the earlier notification in 2019, but now the RRB has issued a fresh notification, making a provision of two examinations. There are also discrepancies in the results," said Satyendra Choubey, a protesting student in Nalanda.
