Six school kids among eight killed in Gaya mishap

 

 

Patna, (Bihar Times): Eight people, including six children of Shishu Mandir, Bakhtiarpur, were killed when the vehicle in which they were travelling collided head on with a truck coming from opposite direction near Wazirganj, a block-level township of Gaya district. The injured were rushed to the Magadh Medical College Hospital in Gaya town, which is some 25 kilometres from the spot.

The school-children had gone to Bodh Gaya on excursion and were returning to Bakhtiarpur when their vehicle hit the truck. Apart from school-children a school-maid and another person were killed in the mishap, which took place near Itwan village on Gaya-Nawada road. Almost all the passengers in the bus, including the teachers, received injuries. The principal was also travelling on the bus.

The children were of Class-IV and V. Chief minister Nitish Kumar who expressed deep shock announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs one lakh to all the victims of the accident. Bakhtiarpur, it needs to be mentioned, is the home-town of the chief minister.
