|   (Bihar  Times) New Delhi, Dec 22 – The largest thermal power  generating company of India, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has signed an  agreement with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) for a $380  million loan to part-finance its 1,980-megawatt (MW) Barh stage-1 super thermal  power project in Bihar.
 The loan agreement was signed on December 20 at Tokyo by NTPC Director  (Finance) A K Singhal. 
 "The facility, which was arranged and guaranteed by JBIC, has floating  interest rate linked to the LIBOR and door-to-door maturity of 18 years. This  is the first facility extended by the JBIC to NTPC without sovereign  guarantee," it said.
 NTPC's finance director A.K. Singhal signed the agreement Dec 20  at the JBIC's head office in Tokyo,  the statement said.  The construction  activity at the project, which comprises three units of 660 MW each, is  progressing smoothly.
