Patna, (Bihar Times): Former defence minister and NDA
convener, George Fernandes, on Friday feared that
Pakistan-like situation might emerge in India if
proper attention was not paid to country’s security.

Speaking in Muzaffarpur he talked about the
cross-border terrorism and rise in Maoist activities
on Indo-Nepal border and other parts of the country.
He took both the Centre and state government to task
for failing to check the Naxal menace and warned that
the country might have to pay dearly if his words were
    not taken seriously.

Sharing dais with the chief minister, Nitish Kumar,
for the first time after being replaced as the Janata
Dal (United) national president he urged everyone
present on the occasion to pay heed to what he was
    saying.

However, Nitish Kumar, while speaking on the occasion
did not refer to the issue raised by George and only
confined himself to the development works initiated by
his government. He was in Muzaffarpur to inaugurate
schemes worth Rs 1,000 crore for the district. Talking
about George Fernandes he said his presence was
essential as he represents Muzaffarpur in Parliament.

While Nitish spoke nothing on the issue of Maoism,
George did not utter a word on the development work.
