Poor turnout for Bikramganj by-poll

Patna, (Bihar Times): The Bikramganj by-election held on Saturday passed off without any untoward incident. However, only 32 per cent turnout was reported. The constituency has little over 13.11 lakh voters.

The election was necessitated by the death of sitting Janata Dal United MP, Ajit Singh, who died in an accient in August. Singh was also the chairman of NAFED.

However, reports said that the voters of Deorian village in Dehri assembly segment boycotted the bypoll to protest lack of development.

Ajit Kumar Singh’s widow, Meena Singh, and RJD's Ashok Kumar Kushwaha are the main contenders. The counting of votes will be held on January 2.
