Patna, (Bihar Times): The Patna University is planning to set up the Patna School of Economics on the pattern of Delhi School of Economics and the London School of Economics.

Addressing the University Senate on Saturday the vice chancellor, Dr Y C Simhadri, said the proposal for setting up PSE had been accepted in principle though the modalities were yet to be worked out. The PSE would be established with the Department of Economics of Patna University.

The University would collaborate with international institutions by signing Memorandum of Understanding with them. It would be a Centre of Advanced Teaching and Research both in Theoretical and Applied Economics.

According to the VC it would include broader areas and establish linkages with trade and industry. The PSE would also have some centres within it for specialized studies.

The head of the department of Economics, Prof Nawal Kishore Chaudhary, said that the proposal to open the Patna School of Economics was an old one and the vice chancellor had accepted it as part of global vision.

It was also informed that the University has plans to set up an elementary English medium school with Sanskrit, Hindi and Urdu languages for the benefit of the children of Class IV employees of the Patna University. This would be done on voluntary basis.
