Nitish blames Railways for the rise in crime on wheels

Patna, (Bihar Times): Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday wondered as to why the Railways have not asked the state government to increase the strength of the Government Reserve Police nor have they augmented the strength of Railway Protection Force even though the number of trains passing through or originating from the state has increased much in the last few years.

The chief minister, while talking to newsmen after the Janata Durbar, held the Railways responsible for the rise in crime in trains. He reitereated that the state government had always shown its eagerness in allotting land for the developmental works be it for the Railways or any other ministry.

He asked both the Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and Union Minister for Steel and Fertilisers Ram Vilas Paswan to concentrate on the functioning of their respective ministries rather than poke their nose in the affairs of the state government. Nitish said that none of the railway projects, except those in Lalu’s own constituency, was making any progress. All this was happening because the RJD chief was more busy in all the other works than running the ministry.

On the issue of dividing the Dalits he said Paswan must be thankful for constituting the Maha Dalit Commission as several steps were being taken to improve the condition of Dalits on the basis of an interim report submitted recently.
