Patna, (Bihar Times): The Bihar State Health Services Association on Tuesday decided not to go on the proposed strike from the midnight of Wednesday following the stay by the Patna high court. The court order came following the filing of an affidavit by the state government in which it said that the retirement age of the doctors had already been raised and that their other demands were also being considered by the government.

The division bench of the Acting Chief Justice, Narayan Roy, and Mr Justice K K Mandal asked the government to consider the demands of the government. They asked both the state government and the BSHSA to file separate affidavits. The next date of hearing is December 17.

The convener of the Bihar State Health Services Association, Dr Ajay Kumar, later said that the doctors were postponing their agitation following the appeal of the high court. The high court had assured the doctors that it had taken up their cause with the state government, he added.

The BSHSA, which till Tuesday morning seemed to be in a belligerent mood, softened its stand after the court order, which came in the light of the earlier Supreme Court ruling.
