|            | Patna, (Bihar Times): The conversion of railway line up
to Jogbani, a town in Bihar on the border with Nepal,
is going to be completed soon. The route will become
          operational from 31 March 31, 2008.
This track will give a boost to Nepal’s international
trade and  Nepalese entrepreneurs are looking forward
for the day to see their long cherished dream get
          fulfilled.
Till now they have been importing goods from Kolkata
and port city of Haldia on trucks, containers and
tankers. Jogbani is linked to the nearby Nepalese town
of Biratnagar. Once the track becomes operational the
freight charges will come down too. The Indian government had proposed in 2004 to build broad-gauge rail link but due to political tension the
work got delayed. The railway route will also reduced
the pilferage, which is common while transporting
goods on  trucks, tankers and    container.
The infrastructure of Jogbani railway station will be
developed in Nepalese style. Once the broad-gauge rail
service comes into effect, Jogbani will be linked directly to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and other
main cities of India. This will help pilgrims,
students, people seeking medical treatment and
          businessmen.
