Lawyers strike on Thursday in protest against APP murder

 

Patna, (Bihar Times): Over 80,000 lawyers across the state would go on strike on Thursday to protest agains the murder of the Additional Public Prosecutor of Begusarai, Ram Naresh Sharma, on the eve of Diwali last Thursday. This was decided at a meeting of the Bihar State Bar Council held in Patna on Tuesday. The meeting was presided over by the president of the Bar Council, Rajendra Prasad Singh.

It has also been decided that a delegation of lawyers would visit Begusarai on November 19 to decide the future course of action.

The Lok Janshakti Party MP, Suraj Bhan, has been made named accused in this murder case. However, he put all the blame on the state government and his party has threatened to go to any extent if any action is taken against him.

Since the murder has sent shock waves and fear among the lawyer community the state government has issued directives to provide security to the judicial officers and public prosecutors engaged in the speedy trial against the notorious criminals, most of incidentally belonged to the ruling National Democratic Alliance.
