Patna,
(Bihar Times): The chief minister’s announcement to pay Rs 10,000 as scholarship
to all the Muslim boys and girls who pass matriculation examination seems to have
not gone down well with some BJP, Janata Dal (United) and Independent MLAs. Though
some are opposing it in private others have come out openly against it.

Nitish Kumar made this announcement on November 11 on the birth anniversary of
India’s first education minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and repeated it
on November 24 on the completion of two years in office.

 Expressing
his strong reservation the BJP MLA, Ramewhwar Prasad, has in a letter written
to the chief minister said that discrimination against a student in the name of
caste and religion is wrong. Not only that he demanded this scholarship be extended
to the students of all castes and religions.
