BJP leader opposes scholarship to Muslim students

Patna, (Bihar Times): The chief minister’s announcement to pay Rs 10,000 as scholarship to all the Muslim boys and girls who pass matriculation examination seems to have not gone down well with some BJP, Janata Dal (United) and Independent MLAs. Though some are opposing it in private others have come out openly against it.

Nitish Kumar made this announcement on November 11 on the birth anniversary of India’s first education minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and repeated it on November 24 on the completion of two years in office.

Expressing his strong reservation the BJP MLA, Ramewhwar Prasad, has in a letter written to the chief minister said that discrimination against a student in the name of caste and religion is wrong. Not only that he demanded this scholarship be extended to the students of all castes and religions.

Treating equals as equals and unequals as unequals is the ESSENCE of justice- equality. Treating unequals as equals is gross injustice. What Nitish Kumar has done is prise worthy. essential to promote education among the backward Muslim masses. Not only persons and communities having vested interest  but also some of the representative of the backward communities  due to jaundiced world view have always  opposed extending democracy and justice to the marginal sections of society.
Well done Nitish Kumar.others are only discussing the Sachchar Committee Report. you have taken the concrete step.

These appeasement policies are not going to help Mr. Nitish.
I think, he has lost hope of a "Sushasan" in Bihar and going back to the Lalu policies seem to have the only option left to him for staying in power.
Good Luck to you Mr. Nitish !
But, there are thousands like me who have seen a ray of hope for Bihar in you and who have campaigned vociferously for your good image, are feeling cheated with your recent actions.
