Doctors not impressed by govt’s offer, to go on strike

Patna, (Bihar Times): The government offer of rasing the retirement age of the doctors failed to cut much ice as the Bihar State Health Services Association is firm on its decision to go on indefinite strike from December 5 next.

According to Dr Ajay Kumar, convener of BSHSA Struggle Committee raising the retirement age of doctors is not a solution.  In fact, given the scarcity of doctors in the state and the fact that only a few of them were applying against vacancies, it is in the interest of the government to raise the retirement age of doctors. What the doctors want is improvement in service condition, implementation of central pay scale and other benefits, dynamic ACP and relaxation in voluntary retirement schemes for doctors.
