Patna, (Bihar Times): The Nitish Kumar government has
now announced that it would take action against the
officials––both civil and police involved in the 1989
communal riots of Bhagalpur.
According to sources in the state home department the government will soon initiate proceedings to reopen
cases related to the officials indicted for their role in the Bhagalpur riots.It needs to be mentioned that the three-member
Bhagalpur Riots Commission Report submitted to the
state government in February 1995 and debated in the
legislative council in June 1995 held 14 officials
responsible for the riots. About half a dozen of them
are IAS and IPS officials.
