Krishi Vigyan Kendra of NDRI Trains 600 Dairy Farmers from Bihar

 

Karnal: 4 November(BIHAR TIMES), The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) trained 600 dairy farmers including 14 farm women from 21 districts of Bihar State in 11 months on Scientific Dairy Farming, said Dr. Sushil Kumar, Director NDRI.

Presiding over the concluding function of the 20th training program organized for the farmers of Aurangabad and Sitamarhi districts of Bihar that concluded here on friday, Dr. Kumar as chief guest of the progarmme said that there was immense potential of improving income and employment in the rural areas through increased milk production. He added that these programmes could be organized based on the interaction with the Directorate of Dairy Development, Patna.

Director said that it was imperative that the farmers should realize the concept and significance of scientific dairy farming in a holistic manner and adopt the technologies relating to breeding, feeding, health care and management in totality so as to improve their herd productivity. He also emphasized the need of sharing the knowledge with others in the same profession by those who have acquired training and knowledge at the NDRI.

Dr. Dalip K. Gosain, senior scientist and the head of the KVK NDRI who coordinated all these 20 training programs said that each training program was specifically developed based on the resource availabilities and needs of the dairy farmers of different dairy cooperative societies of Bihar State. He added that, the KVK could train 600 dairy farmers including 14 farm women from 21 districts of Bihar between December 2006 and November 2007.

Dr. Gosain, added that the data collected from randomly selected 300 members of different dairy cooperative societies who attended training programmes here, upon analysis would suggest newer dairy developmental approaches to be used in Bihar at micro level for further dairy development.

He told that Dr. Satyapal Dr. Parveen both senior veterinarians Dr. Mrs. Harjeet Kaur Principal Scientist Animal Nutrition (AN), Dr.A.K.Tyagi, Dr.S.K.Tomer Senior Scientists of A.N., Dr. Shiv Prasad of Livestock Production Management Dr. C,J.Juneja, Mr. Sushil Kumar Kamboj, Mrs. Saroj Mehta, Mr. D.R.Sukhija, and Mr. Brij Kishore all technical officers of KVK, imparted training to 600 trainees in different batches so to improve their knowledge and skill.
