Builder, Anant Singh’s guard surrender

Patna, (Bihar Times): Builder Mukesh Singh, a close associate of the controversial Janata Dal (United) MLA, Anant Singh and the latter’s guard, Bipin Singh, surrendered before the court on Monday. They both were wanted in the case involving murderous attack on newsmen and photographers on November 1.

The journalists were assaulted by Anant Singh and his men when they went there to ask questions after the decomposed body of a young woman was recovered by police on October 31 night. It needs to be mentioned that Reshma Khatoon, a young woman, had written letter to the chief minister, media-persons and officials stating that there was a threat to her life. Her whereabouts is yet not known.

Meanwhile, chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday refused to say anything clear-cut on the suspension of Anant Singh. He said that the matter had been referred to the party’s national president, Sharad Yadav. However, he hastened to add that his party would not hesitate in taking action against anyone.

On the other hand Sharad Yadav on Sunday said that his party was not shying away from taking any action against Anant provided his involvement in crime is proved. This notwithstanding the fact that the attack on media-persons do not need any prove.

Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janata Dal leader, Shakeel Ahmed Khan, said on Monday that chief minister can not dare to throw out his close associate, Anant Singh, from the party. The RJD said as to why the ruling party was feeling shy in taking action against him when it had suspended MLAs like Chedi Paswan and others for just raising voice against the party leadership.
