|            | Patna, (Bihar Times): The controversy on the repeated
foreign trip of the Patna University VC, Dr Y C
Simhadri, had taken a new turn with the latter
expressing surprise over the human resources
  development minister, Brishen Patel’s utterances
  against him.
The vice chancellor did not mince words to tell a
newspaper over phone from Delhi that his recent visit
to France was not a personal one and that he had
already informed the principal secretary to the
Chancellor and human resources development secretary
  before flying out.

He said that he was there as the president of the
Association of Indian Universities and that he had
worked hard to get the Patna University included in
the consortium of ten Indian Universities which should
have regular academic exchange with French
universities. It was on the invitation of the French
government that he along with the secretary general of
AIU went there to sign a Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU). He claimed that this move would make help Patna
  University become global.

He said that he would be in Patna on Friday and meet
the Chancellor, the chief minister and human resources
development minister to clear the misunderstanding.

Patna University watchers feel that the minister’s
statement against VC has less to do with the
functioning of the University, but more to do with the
personal grudge. It is also true that there are many
people who are not pleased with his style of
functioning. Besides, there is a vested interest,
  which wants his removal.
