|            | Patna, (Bihar Times): In a rare incident the office of
Chancellor, R S Gavai, issued a show cause notice to
the vice chancellor of Patna University, Dr Y C
Simhadri. He has been asked to explain as to why he
left for France without taking proper sanction from
    the government.
The recent visit of the vice chancellor to France was
the third to  any foreign country ever since he joined
    the office in December 2006.

The Chancellor’s show cause said that there is a clear
cut directive from the Raj Bhawan not to go abroad
    without taking permission.

It needs to be mentioned that the human resources
development minister, Brishen Patel, last week took
strong exception to the VC’s departure to France.
Besides, there is a section of teachers,  non-teaching
staff and students who are up in arms against his
    style of functioning.

Patel said that Dr Simhadri was setting a wrong
precdent by leaving for foreign countries without
informing the Chancellor’s office and seeking proper
    government permission.

Meanwhile, Dr Simhadri’s repeated attempt to call on
the Chancellor and the principal secretary yielded no
result as he is still to get appointment.
