Patna, (Bihar Times): Four MLAs of Bihar have demanded
proper security for the people of Bihari origin living
in Assam for the last so many decades.

These four MLAs on Monday called on the defence
minister, A K Anthony, in Delhi and expressed their
deep concern on the repeated violence against the
people of the state living in Assam and even other
      parts of the country.

The delegation also submitted a letter addressed to
the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh. The letter
describes in great details the chain of violence in
Assam. The delegation included three MLAs from the
BJP: Rameshwar Prasad, Navin Nitin and Prem Ranjan
Patel and an Independent, Kishore Kumar Munna.

It needs to be mentioned that a large number of people
from Bihar and Jharkhand migrated to Assam about 150
years back. They were mostly Santhals from Santhal
Parganas. In the decade of 1930s a large number of
people went there to work in tea plantation. Even
after independence the flow went on, especially after
the setting up of refinery. Not only are they in tea
plantation, but also in business like transport, trade
and commerce etc. The United Liberation Front of Assam
      is repeatedly targeting them.
