Patna, (Bihar Times): A case has been lodged against
      the ruling   Janata Dal (United) MLA from Raghopur in
      Supaul district for allegedly   indulging in extortion
      and misbehaving with the manager of a reputed   firm
      involved in the construction of the East-West
      Corridor. This six-lane   National Highway is being
      built under the Prime Minister’s Golden   Quadrilateral
      Project and connects the eastern part of India to   the
      west.
      
      According to Ramesh Madhubhasi, Gammon India’s   local
      manager, Neeraj Kumar Singh alias Babloo, reached the
      camp office of   Gammmon India located in Madhubani
      district on January 6 and misbehaved with   the camp
      office manager P K Basak and demanded extortion money
      from   him
      
      Madhubhasi alleged that Babloo asked for Rs nine lakhs
      per month   from Basak to allow the company to work in
      the area. He also said that the   head office of the
      company at Mumbai was informed about the incident   and
      after getting a clearance   from there an FIR against the MLA and his   associates
      was lodged in Balua Bazar police station on Monday.
      
      Babloo   on the other hand said that he had gone to the
      camp office on January 6 to   demand adequate
      compensation to the local people whose land had   been
      acquired for construction of the road as well as give
      employment to   them in the construction work.
      
      Sometimes back BJP MLA from Suryagarh,   Prem Ranjan
      Patel, was accused of demanding extortion money from   a
      contractor engaged in road construction work. However,
      he was given a   clean-chit after investigation.
      
      Another Janata Dal United MLA, Sunil   Pandey, too was
      accused of extorting money from a construction firm
      while   a similar charge was recently leveled against
      Anant Singh, also of the same   party.
