Patna, (Bihar Times): In a rare development the vice
chancellor of Patna University, Dr Y C Simahdri, was
sacked from office on Monday. Prof M P Sinha was
appointed as the acting vice chancellor.
His removal came only a few days after his return from
France. The human resources development minister,
Brishen Patel, publicly criticized him for leaving the
country without informing the government and the
office of chancellor. Many teachers as well as
students organizations also gave petitions to the
    Chancellor seeking his removal.

After his return from France he was served show cause
notice by the Chancellor. His repeated attempt to meet
the Chancellor, minister and senior officials yielded
    no result.

Earlier, Dr Nawal Kishore Chaudhary, head of the
department of Economics, was on Saturday suspended
from his post. His suspension came a few days after
the meeting of the PU Senate in which he strongly
criticized vice chancellor’s style of functioning.

The removal of VC by the office of Chancellor and
suspension of Dr Chaudhary is being interpreted as a
balancing act by many PU-watchers. However, whatever
may be the government and Chancellor’s stand on the
two issues the fact is that PU is passing through its
    worst crisis.
