Beautician Shahnaz Hussain’s son dies under mysterious circumstances

Patna, (Bihar Times): Famous beautician, Shahnaz Hussain’s only son Sameer died under mysterious circumstances in Patna late on Sunday night. Eye-witnesses said that he suffered serious injuries after he fell from the third floor of Maqbool Apartment in Exhibition Road, where he and his father-in-law, Mahfooz Alam, lawyer of Patna high court, were living. His wife Rabia, from whom he has a daughter, was away in Dhanbad, in Jharkhand, to meet her maternal grandmother. Rabia is in family way too.
Though police are suspecting it to be a case of suicide family sources say that it was a murder case.

According to Patna superintendent of police, Anwer Husain, Sameer (34) breathed his last in a nursing home on Sunday night hours after he was admitted. It is said that he fell from the balcony of the flat which is owned by his father-in-law.

Though police initially suspected that the death could be due to an accidental fall or suicide, deputy superintendent of police, Sanjay Singh, on Monday evening said it appeared to be a case of suicide as Sameer was suffering from depression and was taking alprax, an anti-depressant, for about eight  years.

Family sources said that Sameer, who was the president of his mother’s company and helped her revolutionize her herbal beauty treatment business globally, was also an amateur singer. He was a frequent visitor to Patna and arrived here a fortnight back. Investigation is under way and the body has been handed over to his father-in-law. His shocked and ailing mother is reportedly in bed rest in Delhi. One report says that she would be arriving late on Monday night.

According to sources police are looking into the death from all angles. Though Maqbool Apartment is a few metres off the Exhibition Road the locality is quite busy. But being Sunday evening there was slightly less activity when the incident occurred.
