Mumbai film body flays BJMPA, Kishan seeks peace

Patna, (Bihar Times): The Mumbai-based Association of Motion Pictures and TV Programme Producers (AMPTPP) on Monday warned the Bihar and Jharkhand Motion Pictures Association’s executive committee member, Dr Sunil Kumar, who is also the Janata Dal (U) MLA, to mend his ways otherwise no Hindi film will be released in Bihar and Jharkhand.

This followed a ban imposed by the BJMPA on screening of the films of actors Mithun Chakravorty and Ravi Kishan in these two states. BJP leader and noted film-star Shatrughan Sinha strongly stood behind these two actors, but Dr Sunil Kumar termed his statement as unfortunate.

Talking to a section of Press the AMPTPP President, Pehlaj Nihlani, said that BJMPA could have solved its difference with Mithun and Ravi by talking to them instead of taking the fight to the streets through the media. This is unfortunate.

The issue seems to have acquired political colour as 12 out of 15 BJMPA executive committee members are said to be Sunil’s staunch supporters. However, report says that actor Ravi Kishan appears to be in a mood to make peace with BJMPA. He has faxed a letter to the BJMPA and stated that he had not used offending words for any film organization in Bihar and
that being a member of CINTAA, he respects all film organization in the country. He said that he had no intention to hurt the feelings of the people of Bihar and if he had done so he should be forgiven and ignored.
