Talibani segregation suggested for NMCH, but no arrest yet

Patna, (Bihar Times): The seven-member inquiry committee set up under the chairmanship of Dr Geeta Singh after attempted molestation of Nalanda Medical College Hospital girls by the boy students on New Year’s eve has strongly opposed the free-mixing of boys and girls in the college. Besides, it has suggested several measures to prevent incidents like this to happen again in the future. It also criticized lack of security for the girls’s hostel of the college.

Not only that; the panel, which submittd its report to the principal, Dr C B Chaudhary on Monday, suggested different timings for the boys and girls for the canteen and said that it should not remain open till late hours. It also recommended fixed visiting hours for the girls’ hostel and sought strict police patrolling on the campus. It also called upon the authorities to seek the help of private security agency to tone up the overall arrangement of the college.

The committee also explored the possibility of having separate buses to ferry boys and girls of the college. It also said that there should be separate bus services for senior and junior medicos as well.

The panel’s report notwithstanding no student has so far been arrested though eight days have passed. This showed the lackadaisical approach of the district administration as well as the college authorities.

The future of medical education in Bihar!

The recommendation by the enquiry committee shows the cowardness of the administration in handling the situation, everyone is trying to save their own skin . They are scared of the student's union which is dominated by these very medical students, involved in this nuisance.

These students don't have the moral right to continue studying medicine and become future doctors. Their teachers who are giving recommendations of segregating students on the basis of gender, should read the Hippocrates oath again ,which they take while accepting their medical degree .

They are a shame to our society and this noble profession.   I pity on them.
