Patna, (Bihar Times): In a sensational murder criminals gunned down Sanjay Kumar Singh, a contractor from Barh, in the Rural Engineering Organisation office (REO) in Boring Road in the heart of Patna. Sanjay was chased inside the office by the criminals, who pumped bullets into his body.

Employees and eye-witnesses said that they heard the victims asking as to why is he being killed. The miscreants replied: for opposing Anant Singh. Incidentally Anant and Sanjay were cousins.

Sanjay Singh of Ladma village was the younger brother of mafia don Vivekanand Singh who is alleged to have power tussle with Anant Singh for quite a long time.

Anant is a controversial Janata Dal (United) MLA from Mokama. Recently mediapersons were brutally assaulted by Anant Singh’s men.

Sanjay’s murder stunned the people of the state capital as it came in a broad daylight. The contempt with which the attackers came and went away only showed how powerful the criminals have become in Patna.

Sanjay’s nephew Raja Parikshit not only lodged an FIR against Anant Singh and seven others in connection with the murder but publicly accused Anant Singh of unleashing a reign of terror in Barh, Mokama and Patna. He and other relatives charged Anant of extorting rangdhari tax from the NTPC.

The FIR alleged that the assailants attacked Sanjay Singh with 9 MM pistols.
