Bihar lawyers abstain from work in protest against killing of APP

Patna High CourtPatna, (Bihar Times): About 80,000 lawyers of the state––right from Patna high court to district courts as well as consumer courts––abstained from court duty on Wednesday in protest against the murder of assistant public prosecutors of Jehanabad, Deendayal Yadav, on December 24 last.

The strike call was given by the Bihar State Bar Council and the lawyers response was almost total. The lawyers demanded payment of Rs 10 lakh to the family members of late Deendayal Yadav and proper protection
to them.

Yadav was killed just 45 days after the murder of  Ram Naresh Sharma, assistant public prosecutor of Begusarai. Sharma was shot dead on November 8, that is, on the eve of Diwali. He was the government lawyer in Rami Singh murder case. Lok Janshakti Party MP, Suraj Bhan, was the main accused in the Rami Singh murder case.
