|            | Patna, (Bihar Times): With the hurdle of procuring coal
cleared the first private power plant in Bihar is
likely to start functioning in Banka district within
  three years.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Abhijeet
Group of Company, Arun Gupta, the group has recently been allotted
a coal block in Mahuagiri in Dumka district of
Jharkhand. This has cut short the gestation period
  significantly.

He said that his company has entered into an agreement
with the locals for acquiring 500 acres of land for
the power plant. Additional land is required for
  future use, he said.

As the transport cost of the coal would be less the
cost of power unit would also be less. Dumka is 80-odd
kilometer from Banka. Bihar will have the first right
to the power generated and it would be cheaper here,
  he said.
