Patna, (Bihar Times): Chief minister Nitish Kumar on
Monday announced the scrapping of more than two
decades old Unaided Education Policy in Bihar.
Teachers of a large number of unaided colleges have
been making this demand for the last many years.
Making this announcement in the state assembly soon
after the Zero Hour and later in the legislative
council he said the state government was committed to
the development of human resources and for this
several schemes had been introduced. Nitish said the
    unaided educational institutions with satisfactory
performance would be given financial aid from the
government which was keen on providing quality-based
    education to the students.

Nitish, however, said condition of the unaided
educational institutions would be reviewed before the
sanctioning of grants. The chief minister also
announced relaxation of the laid standards for
sanctioning of the grants to the unaided women’s
    educational institutions.
He expressed pleasure to end the prolonged issue of
the unaided educational institutions saying that it
was in the interest of the state.

However, not all the unaided colleges would be
benefited by the new announcement as many of them now
virtually cease to exists, especially after the new
policy under which the Inter education would be
imparted in the Plus-II schools. Many of these
colleges used to impart only under-graduate courses
and in many others the graduate students are only a
    handful in number.
