Only 42 per cent fund spent in current financial year

Patna, (Bihar Times): The fund utilization in the current financial year is far from satisfactory: only 42 per cent in the nine months.

According to reports till January 31 last an amount of Rs 4,874.59 crore was spent against the plan outlay of Rs 11542 crore.

The Panchayati Raj Department is the worst offender. It spent only 0.81 per cent till now. On the other hand the performance of the Human Resources Development department is the best: it had spent 70 per cent of its fund. The road construction department had spent 68 per cent of its Rs 2350 crore allocation while the rural works department about Rs 1022 crore, that is, 65 per cent of its Rs 1568.33 crore.

The electricity department could utilize only 21 per cent and the PHED 24.5 per cent. The rural department spent 38 per cent and urban development department just Rs 103 crore of its Rs 692 crores, that is just less than 15 per cent. The water resources deparment and the minor water resources deparment had spent only 30 per cent of the fund.

In spite of this poor performance the Planning Commission had recently shown generosity towards the state.
