Panchayat secretariats to come up soon

 

Patna, (Biha Times): Panchayat secretariat would be set up in each of the 8,712 panchayats in the state. They would function on the pattern of the state secretariat. Mukhiyas, sarpanchs and ward members and employees would hold their office like officials in the state secretariat.


According to the Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, each panchayat secretariat will also have a flood and quake proof housing complex for employees. The state government has already submitted its proposal in this regard to the World Bank. Each complex would cost Rs 35-40 lakh, the chief minister said while inaugurating a the two-day Sun Festival at Deo in Aurangabad on Wednesday.

It needs to be mentioned that the chief minister held a meeting with the top officials of some international banks in Patna on Tuesday to seek Rs 3,000 crore from them for this project.
