Buddhists resent state govt advertisement on Prez’s visit

Patna, (Bihar Times): President Pratibha Patil’s Friday visit to Bodh Gaya did not go smoothly. Buddhist monks strongly protested the state government advertisement which showed  pictures of the President and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar being placed above Mahatma Buddha in a poster, which they termed as disrespect to him. They were critical of the chief minister and the district magistrate, Gaya.

Not only that they alleged that the visit of the President disrupted the ten-day long chanting of the scriptures of the Tipitaka, the collected teachings of Lord Buddha written in Pali at the Mahabodhi Temple on Friday.

Buddha got enlightenment under the Mahabodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya.
