Patna, (Bihar Times): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar
on Wednesday asked the Manmohan Singh government to
invoke Article 355 of the Constitution to save the
lives of North Indians, especially Biharis, in
Maharashtra.

Participating in debate on a thanksgiving motion on
Governor’s address to the joint seesion of the Assemly
he said that Maharashtra is a fit case for the Centre
to issue instruction to prevent the breakdown of
constitutional machinery.
If the state government still fails to perform its
duty then the Centre should consider the option of
invoking Article 356, that is, imposition of
President’s Rule, he said.
Nitish also read out his Februrary 6 letter written to
the Maharashtra counterpart, Vilas Rao Deshmukh.
