Patna, (Bihar Times): Train services remained paralyzed for four hours on Monday on the Patna-Katihar-Guwahati route when a large number of people squatted on the rail track following the killing of Anil Kumar Singh, lawyer and son of former minister, Basudev Prasad Singh in Barari bazaar in Katihar late on Sunday night. Anil was also associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the students’ wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

He was shot dead by some unidentified criminals while he was returning from a grocery shop at about 9:00 pm on Sunday.

New Delhi-Guwahati Rajdhani Express, New-Delhi Alipurduar Mahananda Express, Katihar-Barauni passengers were stranded at different points due to the agitation. The blockade was lifted only after the superintendent of police, Anil Kishore Yadav, assured that the main accused would be arrested soon. The block eduation officer of Barari, Kamendra Kumar, has been named as the main accused in the FIR.

Basudev Singh was the minister in the late Ram Sundar Das ministry in 1979-80.
