Patna, (Bihar Times): The officials of the Bihar Administrative Services Association (BASA) will wear black badge for three days from Thursday in protest against the gruesome murder of the Patna Municipal Corporation secretary, Manzar Alam and his wife on Wednesday and the killing of the Block Development Officer of Ariari in Sheikhpura district ten days back.

This was decided in the executive body meeting of the BASA on Wednesday. The Association would take further decision in its meeting on Saturday. Among other things the BASA demanded payment of Rs 25 lakh as compensation, job to one of the daughters of Manzar Alam and property security to the state administrative service officials.

Secretary of the Patna Municipal Corporation, Manzar Alam, and his wife were killed by some unidentified criminals in Haroon Nagar-II colony of the state capital in the wee hours of Wednesday.

This is the second murder of a Bihar Administrative Service Association officer in a fortnight. Last month a Block Development Officer was found killed in his house in Sheikhpura town.

According to the police the criminals used iron-rod to kill Manzar Alam and his wife. The police said that apparently murder was the sole motive though some items are missing from his house.

The criminals jumped the boundary wall, broke the grille and the main door to enter the bed-room. Heavy rain facilitated them in committing the crime. The head of both the victims were brutally smashed.

The couple had three daughters, two of them are already married, while the third one was sleeping in the other room. A maid also lives in the same house.

It was only when the daughter woke up at 7:30 am that he found the bed-room of the parents locked. When she opened the door she found both of them dead.

Some local people told BiharTimes that a file was found open in the house. He had also served as the Circle Officer of Phulwarisharif a few years back.

Home secretary, Afzal Amanullah, excise secretary, Amir Subhani, Senior SP, Amit Kumar, City SP, Anwar Husain and other top officials visited the place of occurrence. The BASA officials decided to contribute Rs 1,000 each to the family members of Manzar Alam.

Meanwhile, hunt is on to nab the killers responsible for the murder of the couple. There was much resentment in the Haroon Nagar Colony, where they used to live, as people refused to allow the body to be taken for post mortem. However, it is after much persuasion by the officials that they finally relented.

The gruesome and cold blooded murder of late Manzar Alam and his wife has again reminded me the darken days of Bihar, when a particular party had provided fully support, back-up and patronized those criminals and created an Industrial shape called "Kidnapping For Ransom" (KFR) and killing of those who do not pay them KFR in time.

I would urge Nitish Babu while appreciate the various steps taken by present government for crime control measures to kindly unearth this mystry when not even a single member of his family came to know as to who killed them during asleep of the due.

I am sure there are certain elements still active in and around us to malign not only your government's claim for good governance, but to demoralize, scare and frightened the commonmen and honest officers. The recent killing of late Manzar Alam & family and Shekhpura BDO is appears to be the heinous act of those unwanted people from our society.

The government should/must take stern action for this cowardly act and bring them under the rule of law.
