| Patna, (Bihar Times): In a major blow to the National Democratic Alliance in Bihar only two days before the trust vote the Janata Dal (United) MP from Nalanda, Ram Swaroop Prasad, openly declared that he would be voting in favour of the United Progressive Alliance on the nuclear issue––come what may.
The announcement came only a day after the Janata Dal (United) state president, Lallan Singh, claimed that many RJD MPs were in touch with his party leaders as Lalu Yadav had lost the support base. Only on Friday the Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, took a potshot at the UPA and dubbed the Union ministers from Bihar as the ‘bayan bahadurs’.

The Sunday development knocked the bottom out of the Janata Dal (United) claim as Ram Swaroop was handpicked by Nitish in September 2006 to contest by-election from Nalanda after he gave up the seat on becoming the chief minister of the state. Nitish not only represented Nalanda but the district is his home turf. An open defiance by a sitting MP and that too on such a crucial stage of politics may have some ramifications in days to come.
