Patna, (Bihar Times): Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday sought to downplay the open revolt in the ruling Janata Dal (United) on the eve of trust vote by saying that he was aware of Ram Swaroop Prasad’s move beforehand.

Talking to newsmen Nitish said that Prasad distanced himself from the party during the Islampur assembly by-election. The seat got vacant when Prasad contested Nalanda parliamentary election in October 2006. According to reports he wanted the party to give his son the ticket for Islampur assembly by election.

Prasad on Sunday publicly declared that he would vote in favour of trust vote on nuclear deal. Another Janata Dal (United) MP, P P Koya, from Lakshdweep, is also likely to vote in favour of the United Progressive Alliance.

Over the issue of debate in Parliament Nitish sounded somewhat nostalgic. He said had he been the member of Parliament he would have raised the issue of the neglect of Bihar. However, he added that the UPA leaders wanted to escape from election.

He went on to add that he had never witnessed such an uncertain scene at the Centre in his political life.
