Patna, (Bihar Times): Bihar is second from bottom so far the percentage of bank   accounts is concerned. Just 28 per cent of the earners of the state has bank   accounts. Tamil Nadu, the home state of Union finance minister, P Chidambaram,   has surprisingly lowest percentage of bank accounts. The figure is just 18 per   cent.
 According to a survey conducted by the Invest India Incomes and   Saving Survey of 2007 44.9 per cent Indian earners had bank accounts, with   coverage rates varying widely in individual states. The survey was conducted by    the research firm IIMS Dataworks.
 
 It says that just 38 per cent of paid   workers in villages had accounts, compared with 62 per cent of their urban   counterparts. Delhi topped the survey with as many as 86 per cent of earning   individuals living in the national capital having bank accounts. The figures of   Chhattisgarh and West Bengal are 31 and 35 per cent   respectively.
