Patna, (Bihar Times): As Gaya witnessed the third mild earthquake within 10 days on Monday afternoon a team of Indian Meteorological Department is paying a visit to the town on Tuesday to study the cause of the repeated mild tremors. This followed chief minister Nitish Kumar’s talk with ADG IMD, A K Bhatnagar, in Delhi over phone late on Monday evening.




Two children were hurt in a locality under Manpur block across river Falgu in Gaya town. Apart from that the tremor, which took place at 3:44 PM caused a crack in the dome of Rama Janaki Temple near Suryakund pond in Vishnupad area of the town.

The first tremor struck Gaya on May 30 to be followed by much stronger one three days later. It was recorded 4.3 on the Richter scale.

  People are leaving Gaya Town, which is in Bihar State (India) in fear against the rumour that is prevailing round the city that Earth Quake will have another occurence on 12th June 2008. Occurence of Tremor four times within last 10 days has led people to this situation.                                                                                                                          

Two boys had been injured on 9th June Quake which occured at 15:45 and also one dome of Vishnupad Temple had also cracked.

Many people have shifted themselves from their residences in Gaya Town to some other relatives atleast 30 Kms away from the Gaya, which is just 12 Kms from Bodh Gaya , an International place of Buddhist Religion, where Mahabodhi Temple is situated.
