Patna, (Bihar Times): The junior doctors of the Patna Medical College Hospital relented a bit. On Friday they decided to join the emergency services, but only for 24 hours. Thus it is for the first time that the junior doctors joined the duty after June 5 incident in which three Press photographers were alleged to be bashed up by them on the PMCH campus.

Though their next line of action could not yet be known it is said that the division within the rank of senior doctors, after the state government’s tough stand, compelled the juniors to budge. It needs to be mentioned that the state government rejected the two-day mass casual leave and told the senior doctors laud and clear that it would amount to break in service.

Meanwhile, the health department is reported to have initiated departmental proceedings against the former principal of the Patna Medical College Hospital, Dr R K P Singh. He had been charged with negligence of duty and delay in furnishing name of doctors, who were on duty at the central emergency and also allegedly involved in assaulting Press photographers on June 5.
