Patna,   (Bihar Times): The Union ministry of health has
identified four states for   setting up composite
para-medical institute. They would be set up in   Bihar,
Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. In addition to
these four   regional centres the Union government had
proposed to establish two central   para-medical
institutes, one in New Delhi and the other in Chennai.
 In   Bihar it would be set up in the Nalanda Medical
College Hospital. The Centre   would construct the
building out of its own fund and hand it over to   the
state. About 20 acres of land has been identified for
this purpose in   front of the hospital campus.The
institute is likely to start its session   from August
next and will impart training in 11 speicalities in
the first   year. There will be two-year diplomas in
radiography and imaging, operation   theatre, medical
laboratory, optometry, blood bank and ECG technology.
It   will also impart one year training as skilled birth
attendant, certificate   course in pre-hospital trauma
technology, besides, training for trainers   of
Accredited Social Health Activists and training   for
ASHA.
 
 According to the prinicipal of the Nalanda   Medical
College and Hospital, Dr C B Chaudhary, in four years
the proposed   institute would add courses in 32 para
medical discipline. At present classes   of 11
disciplines would start from the adjoining buildings
like the   directorate of TB Control, Food Processing
Lab, Pharmacy Institute and a   portion of NMCH. Each
discipline will have a maximum of 30 seats   and
students will be selected through the Bihar Combined
Entrance   Examination.
 
 A seven-member team from the Cenre led by joint
secretary   ministry of health, Prabir Krishnan, was
here on Thursday to inspect the site   for the proposed
