Patna, (Bihar Times): The Nitish Kumar government on
Sunday ordered an inquiry into the reports that more
than 200 Bihar Military Police constables, who had
gone to Jammu and Kashmir for training, fled to their
home state on Saturday following alleged sexual
harassment by a BSF havaldar in Udhampur. However,
some other reports say that 136 of them have left
    their camp.

The DIG of BSF, Jammu, J B Sangwan, who rushed to the
spot on Saturday, had ordered an inquiry into the
episode. He denied the charge by saying that the Bihar
Police constables probably found the BSF training too
tough. The DIG (Udhampur), Asaf Ali, said that he had
constituted a three-member committee to probe the
      allegations.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Police, Bihar, S C
Jha on Sunday ordered a Bihar Military Police (BMP)
commandant to visit Udhampur to look into the matter.
BMP (6) Commandant Ramnarayan Singh left for Udhampur
    on Sunday night.
In all, 370 police recruits from Bihar had gone for
training at Udhampur and Jagnoo on June 1 for a
    40-week course.
DGP Jha too suspect that the charges appear to be
frivolous, though it is premature to say anything
    concrete on the issue.
