New Delhi, June 23 : The Border Security Force (BSF) Monday denied allegations that one of its trainers had made a “sexual attack” on a Bihar Military Police (BMP) cadet in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. Over 100 recruits of the Bihar Military Police had fled the Udhampur camp on Saturday after an alleged sodomy attempt on a colleague.
“We have already initiated a probe into the case. There could be other angles to the case. Prima facie, it doesn't look like as the case is made out to be,” BSF Director General A.K. Mitra told reporters, on the sidelines of an event in the capital.

According to official sources, the BMP cadet raised an alarm after he was allegedly sexually attacked by one of the trainers. He was saved by fellow cadets.

Deputy Inspector General BSF, Asif Ali, told reporters in Jammu that some recruits had left the training centre. He refused to elaborate on the subject.

Sources said that trainers routinely harass cadets but this is the first time that a sodomy charge has been levelled.

Udhampur is 60 km from the Jammu and Kashmir summer capital Srinagar. It also houses the police-training academy and is the headquarters of the Indian Army.
