Patna June 24: Puja Mishra, wife of a Bihar government official who was found dead Sunday, says nothing has changed in the state despite Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's claims of good governance. "I strongly feel that nothing has changed in Bihar till date. Criminals of different colours are ruling the roost. My husband's killing is an outcome of it," Puja told IANS over telephone Tuesday.
Her husband Arvind Kumar Mishra, a block development officer of Ariari, about 150 km from here, was found dead at his home Sunday. A revolver was recovered from the home.

Sheikhpura Superintendent of Police Indranand Mishra said prima facie it appeared to be a case of murder.

A first information report (FIR) was lodged under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, a police officer said.

Puja, in her 30s and mother of two children, demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe.

She said she was a victim of lawlessness and corruption prevailing in the state.

Mishra, a 42nd batch officer of the Bihar Administration Service (BAS), was reportedly under stress for some time as he was preparing a report on a case relating to alleged irregularities in appointment of teachers at panchayat level and some other corruption cases.

Acting Home Secretary Amir Subhani said the district police had been asked to probe the case thoroughly.

The mysterious death has stunned the Bihar Administration Service Association (BASA), which said it was the second such case in Ariari block in recent years.

BASA president Arun Chandra Mishra said the association had been demanding proper security from the government for the field officers engaged in supervision and implementation of government-sponsored development schemes in the rural areas.

Leader of Opposition Rabri Devi has also demanded the arrest of culprits and compensation of Rs.2.5 million and government job to the kin of the deceased.
