Patna, (Bihar Times): The beleaguered BJP has put off its
final decision on the fate of the deputy chief
minister, Sushil Kumar Modi, at least for a day, that
    is, till Wednesday.
The top brass, which met at the residence of its prime
ministerial candidate, Lal Krishna Advani, for three
hours failed to come to any formula as the
dissidents camping there in New Delhi have taken a
    very tough stand against Modi.

As a compromise the party central leadership even
suggested that Modi be stripped off his post of the
leader of the BJP legislative party in Bihar. But
since the dissidents are refusing to budge the top
brass may meet some rebels and try to come to any
    conclusion.

The main problem with the central leadership of the
party is that it is easy to remove Modi, but hard to
find an alternative leader. Modi is acceptable to both
the chief minister, Nitish Kumar and the central
leadership, while other state leaders lack this
    stature.

However, the dissidents have given June 5 as the
deadline. If their demands are not met they may resign
    as they have threatened earlier.
