Patna, (Bihar Times): Fulfilling the Railway Budget 2008 promise railway minister Lalu Yadav on Wednesday flagged off the Jogbani-Sealdah Seemanchal Express at Jogbani on the newly constructed broad gauge on Katihar-Jogbani section. The route goes via Purnea and falls in Katihar division of North East Frontier Railway. Jogbani is the last town on the India-Nepal border and would help transport goods for Nepal directly from Kolkata port.

While prasing the achievements of the railways Lalu said that those living in the region would no longer face difficulty in traveling to other parts of the country. Soon two more trains, one for the South and one for New Delhi would start from Jogbani.

The work to convert 108 kms Katihar-Jogbani metre gauge into broad gauge started in 2004.
